For any analyst in investment banking, this scene is a rite of passage. For us, it was the training ground where we learned a crucial lesson: what you learn in a lecture hall is worlds away from what you need to know on the job.
We are former investment bankers, private equity investors, and corporate strategists. We’ve sat on both sides of the interview table, built countless financial models for multi-billion dollar deals, and presented to boards and investment committees. We’ve lived and breathed the high-stakes world of corporate finance, and we know exactly what it takes to succeed.
Throughout our careers, we've interviewed dozens of bright, ambitious graduates. They had impressive degrees from top universities and a genuine passion for finance.
Yet, we saw the same pattern repeat itself: they could discuss corporate finance theory, but when faced with a practical case study or a financial modelling test, they froze. There was a clear and critical gap between academic knowledge and the real-world technical skills that top-tier firms demand from day one.
